PICTURE FRAMING

Commissioned pictures are professionally framed. An option is provided with unframed pictures to buy a recommended handmade wooden frame from a reputable supplier. These links are not affiliated, I use these frames for my own pictures.

Please contact me if would like to discuss professional framing options for unframed pictures.

FAQs

Answering your most frequently asked questions about my artwork and service to help you make an informed decision

  • Do make everything yourself?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

Yes, I do! I love to collect different items in Nature on my walks through the seasons. I started drying different things very slowly with presses and books and it is always exciting to see how they turned out. I am often delighted with wonderful surprises in bold shapes and deep colours which inspire all my composition.

  • Is all your artwork original?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

I like to think so, yes! I discovered a different way to present dried forna in whole and in part and learnt how to press more unusual items that have a striking impact on a composition. I arrange many small and tiny pieces in patterns or scenes - often complete with minute dragonflies or birds flying in the distance.

  • How is your artwork made?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

All my compositions are planned before gluing each piece to the card individuially. I compose a pattern or scene by placing the tiniest items together and secure with just the right amount of clear drying adhesive. All items are individually glazed to ensure the artwork lasts for the longest possible time. A 'Caring for your Artwork' card is included with guidance on how to look after your purchase.

  • Are all your materials natural?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

My art materials are sourced as natural and handmade or eco-friendly and all are recyclable as far as possible. I use traditional equipment and refillable pens, printing inks and pencils which are high quality and made to last. All my packaging is eco-friendly or re-used recycled (especially plastics which I encourage everyone to pass on).

  • Are the items well packaged?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

Each item is gift wrapped in eco-friendly tissue paper with ivory twine and a 'Thank You' sticker. Each item is then wrapped and padded well with inner recycled packaging before packing into a sturdy recycled box for safe delivery. Each parcel is sealed with strong brown paper tape and a large printed address label to your location.

  • What postal system do you use?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

I only use Royal Mail Parcel Post with Guaranteed Second Class Signed Delivery for insurance purposes. This is included in the price of your item and if you would like a faster delivery, please get in touch as this will incur an extra charge. I will send your tracking number by email with an estimated arrival date as soon as your parcel has been despatched.

  • Do you provide refunds?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

Please read all the descriptions to make sure you are happy with your order before purchasing as I am unable to provide refunds. This is to maintain a fair price for my artwork and and save on costs. If, however, your artwork is damaged or there is a problem, please get in touch so that we can discuss how I can help.

  • Do you work on commissions?

Spiral Leaf Gift Shop - FAQ - Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

I am always happy to discuss how I might be able to help using items from my dried stock collection. Items can be collected and dried for orders made over a longer period with many options for personalised handmade compositions and cards. Please get in touch if you would like me to arrange a call to talk things through.
