Take a stroll along the canal with its colourful narrowboats, friendly ambiance and peaceful way of life living on the water surrounded by nature.
Stepping out on the towpath,
Along the Staffs and Worcs Canal.
At once, a floating market,
With flags and crafts and boat-made fare.
With people browsing, laughing,
Friendly vibes in the air.
Beautiful handmade treasures for sale,
Crafted gifts in leather, wood and yarn.
Out along the path,
Stretching on ahead.
Harmonious and restful,
With nature at her best.
Water laps against the boats,
Hardly moving as they float.
With names like Hunky Dory, Knot So Fast,
Morning Star and Mooring On Up.
Red brick bridges line the track,
Oval iron plates, signature white on black.
Trees abound and Willows tumble,
In arcs of shade that ripple on the water.
With purple reeds and flowering vines,
Bright jewels along the waterline.
As the day fades, the evening colours glow,
Sunset clouds floating, reflecting above and below.
And all is peaceful, quiet, still,
As a lone bird flies silently home.
So much to see on this fertile land,
On the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.
