There is nothing like a long walk along the South West Coastal Path on the south coast of Cornwall on a beautifully sunny and fresh early Spring day taking photographs of stunning views and natural wildlife that thrives close to the ocean.
Props are rigid structures, anchored to the ground;
Supporting trees and branches growing in the wild;
Laiden with Lichen from years of steady growth;
A canopy for birds and wildlife close to the coast.
The South West Coastal Path is the longest of them all;
A coastguard patrol route for finding smugglers on the haul;
Stretching round the coastline for 630 miles;
For long-distance walking along the National Trail.
Dry stone walls are works of art from days of old;
Some were thatched and some were filled with earth and soil;
A perfect shelter for small creatures, host to many a wildflower;
This one charmed with Pennyworts, the champions of the hour.
Ponies graze on the cliff top, thinning out the grass;
Keeping niches open for our flowering plants;
Balancing the system under the watchful eye of Crow;
Symbol of intelligence, destiny and growth.
There is nothing quite as beautiful;
As sunshine on the sea;
Rippling on the surface in a blaze of mystery.
The ocean brings such calm on a blue-sky sunny day;
It draws you in and helps to make your cares fly away.
Dramatic sights of ancient crags in sheer precipice;
Made by years of wind and pounding waves that form the coastal cliff;
Scree builds up with boulders as rocks keep tumbling down;
Forming caves and sandy beaches for us to visit and enjoy.
Outstanding Natural Beauty formed by stunning tidal creeks;
On the edges of the Earth where the land and sea meet;
Topped by rolling fields and outstanding coastal walks;
The south coast of Cornwall is a joy to behold.
A halfway stop on our circular walk to take in the view;
The highest headland standing above the sea below;
Referred to as the Deadman or Deadman’s Point;
With perilous towering cliffs, Nature wild and unspoilt.
Lichen growing by the sea where few plants can survive;
With pounding surfs and salty air, communities of Lichen thrive;
Adapted to the environment of the open seashore;
Lichens are a joy to see and will be for ever more.
