Early Spring Walk
A symphony of blossoms, wild garlic, nettles, ferns and trees
Walking through fields in early May,
Banks of wild flowers brighten the way.
Primrose and sorrel, pale lemon and white,
Gently unfolding towards the light.
Wild violets so bright with heart-shaped petals,
Calendine star-bursts amidst the nettles.
Greater Stitchwort, delicate yet bold,
Guarded by fairies in tales of old.
Into the woods, paths lead the way,
Trees come to life in the warm light of day.
Wild Garlic buds burst into flowers so fresh,
Green flavoured leaves full of goodness.
Nettles resplendent in finest form,
To cleanse the blood and keep bones strong.
Clusters of Hart's Tongue, rising tall,
Unfurling fronds in a spiral throng.
Crosiers courtsey in elegant pose,
Ferns unfurling in a miracle of growth.
With trees to remind us that we belong,
In a world of Nature - it's who we are.
Where energy flows and living things thrive,
Where we feel at peace and most alive.
Wild flowers flourish along the way,
In festivals of colourful buds and leaves.
At the top of the rock on a grassy knoll,
With a glorious view, far out and beyond.
Just me and the birds, sharing the sky,
With courting butterflies dancing by.
