October's New Hunter's Moon marks the time after the harvest when hunters used to prepare for the upcoming cold Winter by going hunting. This is because animals begin to fatten up in preparation for the cold season with fields  recently cleared making animals easier to spot in the wild. The reference to 'hunting' here relates to local people in the old days who relied on wild animals to survive - it does not relate to the barbaric practices of blood-sport.


New Hunter's Moon - spiritual insight and self-reflection

The New Hunter's Moon phase represents a more introspective time that encourages us to think about new beginnings and plant seeds for the future. It's a good time to set clear intentions for the month ahead, clarify goals, start new projects and acknowledge your growth since the last New Harvest Moon in September.


During this spiritual time focus on internal work to clear any blockages that may be causing problems. Work on processing these issues so that they can be released and spend time quietly in self-reflection.


New Hunter's Moon in Libra - meditation and inner calm

The New Hunter's Moon in Libra is associated with the qualities and themes tied to Libras.


These include harmony, friendliness, sociability, communication and balance. Libras are often referred to as 'friendly yet frank' individuals who naturally practice open communication and honesty. This is why it's a good time to reflect on anything (or any people) that might not be serving us any more and to consider breaking away from ties that are holding us back in life.


During this lunar phase you may find yourself craving clarity, peace, connection and restorative conversations with others. Take time out from mainstream media, social media and other distractions that are designed to keep us in a state of anxiety and fear.


Rather, practice finding your inner stillness and spend as much time as possible outside in Nature - it's a beautiful and bountiful time of the year and not too cold just yet.
