Welcome December
A poem to welcome in the Winter Solstice and the festive season
Welcome December
The first day leading to the shortest of the year;
When we are born again and a new life cycle begins.
Waiting for the light, we commemorate the hope it brings.
Welcome December
A peaceful time as Nature's creatures hunker down;
Starling murmations, mesmerising in the sky;
A Cold Moon shimmers with star clusters, way up high.
Welcome December
Bare trees, trellised in patterns on icy fields;
Robins hop from branch to branch, singing their song;
Nature's landscapes, etherically beautiful, quiet, surreal.
