Autumn Fruits
Celebrating the vitality and abundance of Nature at the end of the season
Blackthorn Sloe, wild purple;
Lichens, feather-soft lime;
Bilberries, beautiful, dainty;
Treasures in Autumn time.
Scrambling brambles, fruitful;
A winner for wildlife and people;
Raspberries, rubies ripening;
Juicy and ready for savouring.
Wild Strawberries, sweet;
Almost too cute to eat;
Bracket Turkeytail, incredible;
For miracle herbal tea.
Hazelnuts, wonders;
Energy in a shell;
Acorns, iron and manganese;
Roasted and prepared well.
Beech Nuts, staple stock;
Roasted genly in a pan;
Chestnuts, spiky top coats;
Guarding their gold inside.
Nature's harvest, joy;
A feast for eyes and mouths;
Fun to collect, as well;
Through the Winter season.
Berries, melons and grapes;
For the bird's tonight;
Wild Hips for healthy hearts;
A finale of syrups, jams and jellies.
